Customers Reduce the Use of Electricity and Save Money
Through Lower Home Energy Costs
.A low-interest loan from Santee Cooper allows you to finance energy efficient improvements and renewable energy resource projects for your home that should help you reduce your energy costs. You can apply for energy efficient improvement loans ranging from $500 to $20,000 with up to 60-months to repay loans over $1,000 or renewable energy resource loans up to $40,000 with up to 120-months to repay. All with no money down. Maximum outstanding loans per customer cannot exceed $20,000 for energy efficient loans and $40,000 for renewable energy resource loans. Combined maximum outstanding loans per customer cannot exceed $40,000.

The following measures may be financed if they are determined to be cost effective and recommended by Santee Cooper. Santee Cooper will only finance heat pumps and heat recovery units installed by approved contractors or the cost of materials for do-it-yourself installations. A list of Good Cents contractors is available from any Santee Cooper location. For renewable energy resource systems, the contractor must have a State Electrical Contractors License and appropriate certifications.

For the ENERGY STAR® New Home rebate, the new home must meet the national
ENERGY STAR® guidelines (15 percent more efficient than the 2006 International Energy
Conservation Code), have a 14 SEER minimum for Heat Pumps and include all electric
appliances.
For Smart Energy Existing Homes, Santee Cooper is offering rebates to homeowners who install certain ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances and makes approved energy efficient improvements
Homeowners who meet the existing home qualifications will receive a $600
rebate paid by Santee Cooper at the time the home qualifies. Customers can also apply for a low-interest Smart Energy Loan to finance these improvements.
